It
was the year 2000 when we first decided to dress up in white outfits
and jump around . I have to admit, the idea of a white party is
definitely not an original idea, it’s what you do with the
concept that makes it original. Our intent was to turn it on for
the patrons to the point where you’d find yourself saying
WOW, WHAT A SHOW. The first 4 years of Illumination were held
in a private residence with crowds of up to 300+. It became obvious
on the 5th year, that we needed to move , to allow for growth
and evolution.
Our
first show out of the house was at A.J Hackett’s in the
rainforest just north of Cairns. This site, we felt, was the closest
to replicating the original party’s atmosphere. The venue
allowed us to have multiple stages, rainforest surrounding’s,
stairways, water feature (man made lake) and a chill zone for
kicking back and taking it all in. Probably one of the best comment’s
I can recall was from Robin (Melb. Rainbow crew). He said the
first impression he had was a feeling of being “ON LOCATION”.
With crowds ranging from 700 to 800, we’ve realized the
move was essential. The party is about UNITY, being involved and
this is where the white outfits come into it. Essentially, your
part of the moving canvas on which the intelligent light show,
lasers and visuals are projected on to. We look forward to next
November when we deliver the 9th Illumination, code named “CO-CREATION”.
